Smilestones

The week of Christmas Hannah started smiling back. Just one of a million little ways her personality is beginning to show through. A year ago I would have yawned behavior off, but consider if you will the sheer quantity of processing and capability that must take place for that simple act of reciprocity: facial recognition, differential facial recognition, identification of that difference, knowing one's face's own capabilities, and the coordination to move those muscles, simultaneously. A watershed moment. It could just make you... smile.
